In the eastern hemisphere of the earth will witness a lunar unusually long and darker Total eclipse of the century, 15 June 2011, when the moon appears from 10000 to 100000 times lower. The event will be the first of two lunar eclipses in 2011 and a third of all the eclipses that occur during the year. It is relatively rare central eclipse where the moon passes the center of Earth's shadow slowly takes a coppery red color.
This lunar eclipse can be viewed in its entirety in the west of China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and the eastern half of Africa. Researchers estimate the total phase of the eclipse will last from 50 to 100 minutes. The next lunar eclipse will be unusually long for July 27, 2018 while the darker next lunar eclipse will be visible after 47 years from now, 6 Juni 2058th
It would be interesting to see how dark the eclipse of June 15 this year would be because, in addition to Iceland Grímsvötn volcanic ash, the Earth's atmosphere is being polluted with ash from the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull last year.
